Nicolas Kenny
Nicolas Kenny is a member of the Department of History at Simon Fraser University, where he teaches Canadian and Quebec history in programmes offered in both English and French. His research focuses on urban and cultural history, in particular on Montreal and Brussels in a transnational and comparative perspective. He is particularly interested in sensorial and emotional experiences of the urban environment, and in the way they shaped the relationship to the city in periods of profound transformation associated with industrial modernity, war, and technological change. He is the author of The Feel of the City: Experiences of Urban Transformation (University of Toronto Press, 2014) and Bruxelles et sa radio : Émotions et sonorités (CFC Éditions, 2019), as well as co-editor, with Rebecca Madgin, of Cities Beyond Borders : Comparative and Transnational Approaches to Urban History (Ashgate/Routledge, 2015).
