Tiffany Chénier

Tiffany Chénier is a PhD student in the Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University, working under the supervision of Dr. Don Nerbas. Her research focuses primarily on the relationship between Canadian political economy and global capitalism, which she explores through the study of Gilmour, Pollock & Co., a Glaswegian timber-based firm whose success was largely dependent on Canadian-generated capital. Her dissertation seeks to better understand the role of nineteenth-century information dissemination technologies in shaping social networks and transnational investment. She has also worked on a variety of projects related to linguistic minority rights in Canada, most recently through the Eastern Townships Resource Centre, where she conducted research on migration related to the granite industry, as well as lobbying initiatives undertaken in the late twentieth century.
