Amanda Ricci

Amanda Ricci is an Associate Professor of History at York University. She is the author of Countercurrents: Women’s Movements in Postwar Montreal (Montreal: McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2023). She also has conducted research on the United Nations World Conferences on Women (1975-1985). Her most recent project addresses the history of the garment industry in Montreal.

Countercurrents received an honourable mention by the Berskshire Conference of Women Historians. The book was awarded the Canadian Committee on Women’s and Gender History Book Prize and the Prix de l’Assemblée nationale du Québec -Congrès de l’IHAF. It was also shortlisted for the Canadian Historical Association Best Scholarly Book in Canadian History Prize and was a finalist for Le Prix de la présidence de l’Assemblée nationale. Ricci’s recent CHR article, ““Feminists Confront the Neoliberal Turn: The Third United Nations World Conference on Women (Nairobi, 1985),” received the Hilda Neatby Article Prize Honourable Mention (2026).
